Fabienne Lupo - Biography
Chairwoman and Managing Director of the Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie
Fabienne Lupo, who was appointed Chairwoman and Managing Director of the Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie in 2010, has been a worldwide advocate for the excellence of Haute Horlogerie since 1999. Under her leadership, the Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie (SIHH) – which at that time was beginning to expand to other brands – grew into an exclusive and internationally renowned event and since 2017, also welcomed connoisseurs, collectors and a discerning public. Fabienne guided the SIHH’s development as new Maisons came on-board and watchmaking groups underwent consolidation. Under her stewardship, the Salon now counts 30 Haute Horlogerie Maisons and has attracted more than 25,000 visitors at each edition.
A native of southern France, Fabienne followed her degree from Toulouse Business School with a post-graduate diploma in Marketing and Mathematical Modelling from Paris-Dauphine University. Her earliest professional roles were in the luxury and cosmetics industry. Next, she joined Secodip (Sofres) where she provided consultation and market research for a portfolio of international clients in the field of promotional advertising and investments. Her organisational and management skills were confirmed with her appointment as Commissioner for the Marseille International Fair SAFIM – France's second-largest industry event with 400,000 visitors and 1,500 exhibitors – and for many other highlights of the Marseille expo calendar including its Boat Show and Spring Fair.
In 1999 Fabienne moved to Geneva to join the Comité International de la Haute Horlogerie as Secretary-General, with the remit of steering the SIHH to success and raising the profile of Haute Horlogerie. In 2005 she became Managing Director of the Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie (FHH), a private foundation set up by three leading players in the industry: the Richemont Group, Audemars Piguet and Girard-Perregaux. The role of the Foundation is to organise Watches & Wonders (formerly SIHH) and, beyond that, promote the culture, know-how and values of Haute Horlogerie throughout the world.
A woman of conviction, Fabienne is a committed voice for Haute Horlogerie. The Foundation she leads provides a wealth of expert content and offers knowledgeable opinions beyond its output of information and training, thereby cementing its role as the ‘think tank’ for the industry. Building on its capacity to unite stakeholders from all areas of watchmaking, the FHH has become an authority in Haute Horlogerie, now with 44 partner Maisons, delegations in over fifteen regional markets and a cultural council of 45 internationally renowned experts, all ambassadors for the Foundation's missions worldwide.
Thirty years after its creation, SIHH is now Watches & Wonders Geneva, a physical event at the forefront of a new fine watchmaking ecosystem. At the centre is Watches & Wonders, a new digital platform that connects the world’s leading watch brands with enthusiasts, retailers and media from around the world, delivering a dynamic opportunity for interaction, education and inspiration.
Alongside her role at the Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie, Fabienne Lupo serves on the board of TimeVallée and is Co-Executive Director for operations and finance at the Michelangelo Foundation for Creativity and Craftsmanship.
